A slow-cooked side dish with tender beans, bacon, and rich maple flavor. These baked beans are sweet, savory, and perfect for potlucks, barbecues, or a hearty family dinner.
Ingredients:
2 cans (15 oz each) navy beans or great northern beans, drained and rinsed
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup maple sugar
1 Tbsp yellow mustard
1 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
1/2 small onion, finely diced
1/4 tsp black pepper
3 slices bacon, chopped
1 Tbsp maple syrup
Instructions:
- Put beans, ketchup, maple sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, onion, pepper, and maple syrup in the crock pot and stir to combine.
- Cook bacon lightly in a pan until just starting to brown.
- Add bacon to the crock pot and stir.
- Cover and cook on Low for 4-6 hours or High for 2-3 hours, until thickened and bubbling.
- Stir before serving and let sit 5-10 minutes to thicken.
Notes:
For sweeter beans, add extra maple syrup.
